Postpartum physiotherapy

After childbirth, especially after a cesarean section, women may face difficulties in recovering their health and well-being. However, physiotherapy can be very effective in restoring physical fitness, reducing pain, and preventing complications.

During physiotherapy, we focus on strengthening the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles that have weakened during pregnancy. Another important goal is to address abdominal wall separation (diastasis), which is a common problem for women after childbirth. Diastasis occurs when the abdominal muscles separate and a protrusion forms between them. This problem can lead to back and abdominal pain and a decrease in abdominal and spinal stability.

During therapy, a test for diastasis recti is performed to determine how much the muscles are separated, and based on that, an appropriate treatment plan is suggested. The goal of physiotherapy is to strengthen the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, reduce the distance between the muscles, and improve abdominal and spinal stability.

Physiotherapists also help women after a cesarean section to regain mobility in the scar area and prevent the development of hernias. After a cesarean section, it is important to avoid heavy physical activity and exercise until the body has fully recovered.

Physiotherapy after childbirth also helps with the prevention of incontinence and the reduction of pain in the pelvic floor area.It is important to realize that recovery after childbirth can take several weeks to months. Physiotherapists will help you gradually increase the intensity of exercise and physical activity so that your body can gradually recover and regain strength.
